The Kirkintilloch Community Council is here to represent you - the people of our community.  We are here to make a difference, and make Kirkintilloch somewhere we are all proud to live.  We are here to help you make Kirkintilloch "Your Kirky"!

At our next meeting in November, we are dedicating our time to identifying the key items we wish to action throughout 2016 and beyond.

What do you need from your community council?  What are the burning issues in your part of Kirkintilloch?  Would you like to see more community events?  Are there planning issues you feel need better represented?  Are there public areas that need some upgrading or simply cleaned up a little?  Are you a local business or community group and need more support within the community?

Let us know what you'd like to see on our Action Plan for 2016.  Contact Us today.

Kirkintilloch Bus at William Patrick LibraryThe Kirkintilloch Community Council has been asked by members of the community to look at the issue of public transport links in Kirkintilloch.  In particular for areas of the community with limited coverage and early-terminating services.

Your Kirky would like to know your views!

Do you use public transport often? Are you reliant on it as your main or only form of transport? Can you get access to buses easily from your part of the town? Are services convenient for you? Or do you find that you are having to re-arrange your life around the service provider's awkward timetables?

Tell us what you think and we'll collate the responses as part of our investigations before taking your feedback to the relevant authorities.  Contact Us, or get involved in the discussion on Facebook.

Dear Sirs

Re: Planning Application TP/ED/14/0510  and intention to grant by East Dunbartonshire Council

We write on behalf of Kirkintilloch Community Council in relation to the above planning application made by East Dunbartonshire Council (EDC) under the Town and Country Planning (Notifications of Applications) (Scotland) Direction 2009

Our purpose is to raise objection, and to draw attention to the objections raised to date and in effect highlight a number of deficiencies in the consultation process. It also seeks your support in rejecting the application made by EDC, on the grounds that there are strong arguments in relation to the harm this development would do and that its acceptance goes against recognised planning protocol.

The Refugee Crisis throughout Europe and beyond continues to escalate. People from backgrounds not dissimilar to yours are fleeing their homes to escape the dangers that staying at home may bring. The response by many organisations and individuals over the past weeks has been phenomenal, but this problem isn’t going to go away anytime soon, and people will continue to need our help.

Your Kirky is calling on the good people of Kirkintilloch to pull together and discuss what Kirkintilloch can do to support those in desperate need. What can we do to help?

The Kirkintilloch Community Council has arranged a meeting for those who may be interested in helping plan activities to show that Kirkintilloch cares! If you think you can help arrange support, from collections of clothing and toiletries, through to more practical help, we’d love you to come along and discuss your ideas.

Do not worry if you can’t commit to helping to organise things. As soon as we have planned some activities we will post more details here and invite you to show your support in whatever way you can.

Our Gala Day was held on Saturday 13 June 2015, and was an overwhelming success.  The day itself followed a series of events held for our Gala Queen throughout the week leading up to the Gala Day itself.

We are already considering what our 2016 Gala day may look like, and we're hoping to make a number of big improvements as the new "Your Kirky" team consider what our community want as part of the celebration.  We'd love to hear your thoughts.
